Basement underpinning or lowering a basement is done for a few different reasons: to convert a crawl space into a usable space, to restabilize a foundation, or to increase load capacity of the basement. This process is done by excavating the area and creating a lower support level and then adding new concrete footers, walls and floor.
The process requires the following steps:
- Determining the height of the basement
- Working closely with engineers for required blueprints
- Applying for underpinning permit
- Once approved work with professionals to install new HVAC and Plumbing
